  • HARDSHIP WAIVER REGULATIONS
  • PROCESS FOR DETERMINING ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY AT A MEMBER SCHOOL
  • The school administrator designated by each local school district is responsible for OSSAA eligibility compliance, and Rule interpretation. Questions from parents regarding OSSAA eligibility rules and policies should be directed to local school administration.
  • Any student new to your school, participating for the first time, or entering the 7th or 9th grade must complete a New Student Form, prior to being allowed to participate at a member school. School Administrators may consult the OSSAA directly to inquire about eligibility requirements, or Rule interpretation upon completion of the New Student Form.
  • Eligibility Record Form
  • The Hardship Waiver Manual, which explains eligibility rules, foreign exchange student’s eligibility, and the process to follow in submitting a request for a waiver of eligibility rules, is linked below. The forms needed for a waiver request are also listed below.
  • School Administrators should direct their eligibility questions to the appropriate Staff member assigned to their school.

  • - Mike Whaley schools beginning with letters A-F

    - Amy Cassell schools beginning with letters G-Z (including all OKC and Tulsa Public Schools)

  • Hardship Waiver Manual
  • School Administrators can click the link below for the forms needed to file a hardship waiver request. All pages should be completed, with the proper required signatures. Accompanying documentation requirements can be found in the Hardship Waiver Manual section titled: Hardship Exception or Waiver Criteria For Transfer Or Residency.

Under each criterion, you will find a detailed explanation of what documentation is required for consideration of a waiver.
  • Requirements for exceptions for over-age students, or students requiring an additional period of athletic participation can be found in the Hardship Waiver Manual section titled: Hardship Exceptions for over-aged students, and Exceptions for additional period of athletic participation.

  • Residence Affirmation
  • If a student enrolls as a bona-fide resident of a school district, but the family still owns, rents, or maintains a home in another school district, the Residence Affirmation Form must be completed. The requirements for complying with Rule as to a bona-fide move, can be found in the OSSAA Administrator’s Handbook, Rule 8-6-e-(8). Accompanying documentation is necessary; school administrators may consult the OSSAA Staff member that handles eligibility issues for your school for additional clarification.

  • Residence Affirmation Form
  • Foreign Exchange Students
  • If you have a student at your school that is on the approved program list, the paperwork should be completed and submitted to the OSSAA for approval. Upon approval from the OSSAA, the student would then be eligible for one school year. Full requirements for Foreign Exchange student’s eligibility can be found in the Hardship Waiver manual, linked at the top of this page.
