JUNE 2012 BOARD MEETING CHANGES TO WRESTLING
1. NEW JUNIOR HIGH WEIGHTS
- 80, 89, 98, 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 140, 150, 162, 175, 200, 285
2. Two pound growth allowance will go into effect on January 1. (instead of the 15th)

 WRESTLING NOTES FROM OSSAA
- Coaches, The 2 pound growth allowance was added on January 1st. If a wrestler has not certified at a weight, he can still get the allowance and compete, but he will need to certify flat weight sometime before January 15, 2013.
   - Example. Wrestler is on his way down to 145 but has not certified. He could make 147 this weekend and wrestle 145. He still must make a flat 145 before January 15, 2013 if he wants to compete at that weight after January 15.

- Coaches, We will not allow any tape on the head gear again this year.
   - Exception; If you have a student who has a bad cauliflower ear, please send me a note from the doctor and I can give you writer permission to tape extra-padding on that ear piece. The tape will have to be changed daily at competitions.

- Coaches we have moved up the 2 pound growth allowance to Jan. 1, but keep in mind all wrestlers must certify flat weight prior to Jan. 15.

- MUTUALLY AGREED WEIGHT ALLOWANCES ARE NOT ALLOWED!!! Click Here for Info

 NOTES FOR OFFICIALS
In a dual meet, the first weight to weigh in is 152 and wraps around to finish at 145.
The first weight, 152 closes as 160 starts which closes the 152 weight class.
As we wrap around to the final weight, a 145 lb. wrestler does not make weight. Weighing in at 145.6.
QUESTION
Can the wrestler who weighed in with 145 pounders and did not make weight, bump up to 152? The reasoning that one might say he cannot is that he made the weight after the 152 pound class was closed.
RULING
Rule 4 section 5, article 8 : Any contestant failing to make weight during the weigh-in period shall be ineligible for that weight class. That contestant may wrestle in the weight class for which his/her actual weight qualifies the contestant , or the next higher weight class…………….additional weigh-in is neither required or allowed.
SUMMARY
Yes, he could bump up to 152.
